? Who Killed the 2-Stroke And Why They Did It ? No-one knew of the existence of a prototype. So when Yamaha of Japan requested an AMA rule to allow the 400 4 stroke/cycle to race in the 250 2 stroke/cycle class they blindly approved it, they diddnt think a 4-stroke/cycle could ever win. That was 1997 ' fuck sake ' ten years ago. In short order it became apparent that Nakayama's CNC milled yz400f prototype meant business w/ Doug Henry on it. The AMA quickly lowered the displacement from 550 to 450. No AMA research was ever done on the proper displacement equivalencies. "As most of us know that figure is 60%" (250 X 1.6 = 400 & 125 X 1.6 = 200). The classes should have changed to 200 & 400 instead of 250 & 450; for the 125 & 250 class respectively. Any of 3 fixes could have happened with the stroke of a pen, to maintain the equal parity. It diddnt happen, the AMA let the 2 stroke to die, and with it went low-cost racing, head to head battles between types, and an era of Motocross history. The verdict against the AMA is guilty! The penalty is "life without 2 strokes" for the motocross public.

Seth Enslow Remember the LFG, local fast guy, grew up in Wellsboro. He's crazier than a crackhouse rat. Jumps his Cr250 framed 500 for about a football field long. Enslow has a titanium plate in his skull from a gnarly wreck thats on Crusty or something. He's at the top of the telephone poles in the background. He apparently turned in front of another biker in Sturgis area causing them to collide. The biker, a police officer died & his wife was injured. Seth broke his leg and ankle. Very bad P.R. for Enslow, learnin' the hard way...
CLUES THAT YOU'RE A HARDCORE MC'list 1.you've warmed engine cases in the oven and cooled crank bearings in the freezer. 2.your 401(k ) holdings include "a motorcycle to be named later." 3.you turn your knobbies around backwards to get more wear from them 4.youve spent at least 3 times the current value of your old bike to restore it. 5.you brake-check other family members in the rush to dinner 6.you evaluate potential new houses by the size of their garages. 7.you love the smell of 2 strokes in the morning 8.you've worn out footpegs 9.The phrase "monkey or iron butt" doesnt make you laugh 10.it's easier to remember your friend by bike, rather than name.
